Redesigning Tia Health’s Booking Experience
We helped Tia Health revamp their virtual care booking platform design, empowering Canadians to get the healthcare they need from anywhere. We delivered an improved desktop experience, an entirely new mobile experience, and two new platform features that support patients in efficiently connecting with the right provider at the right time.
2 new feature implementations; 30% increase in booking rates post-launch of new design.
Personalized Support for UCSD Students
Willo, an innovative self-care app for UC San Diego students, supports students in navigating the university’s mental health and well-being resources. To take the app’s value proposition to the next level, we led the user research, strategic positioning and UX design for a new set of features that will raise the bar for university health apps. As these features have not yet been released, we can’t divulge them just yet, however these features will enable UC San Diego students to better understand their own mental health trends and patterns, while being provided more personalized support from the app and its resources.

YourCare’s Design Puts Patients in Control
We helped WELL Health Technologies bring to life the end-to-end experience for Canada’s most innovative personal health record (PHR) that truly puts patients and their families first. Through an in-depth user research process, we built the end-to-end, UX and UI design for the FHIR-compatible, YourCare PHR platform. This progressive web app provides a modernized experience that sets itself far apart from the typical, clunky healthcare software that so many have come to expect and accept as the norm in this industry.

The Future of Patient Flow Management
We helped UC San Diego Health design and launch their first-ever patient flow command centre, dubbed Mission Control. Through careful co-location of the right staff, reforming roles and descriptions, and designing intentional proactive processes, we transformed the patient flow experience at UC San Diego Health that empowers staff to make timely decisions, leading to improved patient outcomes and a more streamlined operation.

We ground our strategy in data, and design with boundless creativity. We design to disrupt health systems. This requires both grounded and blue sky thinking; an intentional blend of scientific methods with big-picture imagination.
Athina is a design leader with deep expertise in healthcare innovation. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Service Design from Parsons School of Design and a Master's in Design for Health from OCAD University. Athina began her career as a design researcher at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before joining UHN’s Healthcare Human Factors team, where she led projects like improving surgical processes, designing digital health tools for cancer education and Type 1 Diabetes, and crafting service strategies for regional health networks.
In response to the shifts of the pandemic in 2021, she founded her own design agency, working with institutions and startups such as UC San Diego Health and WELL Health Technologies to create impactful solutions that advance healthcare delivery and challenge the status quo.
